Fried Eggs and Wine Vinegar

Inspired by Julie and Julia, I've decided to go on my own cooking journey. Every week, I will cook one recipe from Food52 Genius Recipes: 100 Recipes That Will Change the Way You Cook. I chose this book because it has a range of recipes from appetizers to meaty entrees to vegetarian entrees to desserts. I will alternate what category I cook each week and hopefully find new and interesting recipes and ways to cook.

This week was the very first recipe. Fried eggs with wine vinegar. A fairly simple recipe but proved to be a great way to fry eggs. From browning the butter before you fry up the eggs to making a wine reduction sauce to top off the eggs, this recipe proved to be a flavorful way to dress up the plain ol' fried egg.

My boyfriend was not impressed when he first heard what I was going to make for our weekend breakfast. We usually do a big breakfast with cheesy eggs, biscuits and bacon. So a couple of fried eggs with a biscuit didn't really excite him. But after a couple of bites he thought it was a pretty great dish. I recommend trying it, even if only to break up your breakfast routine.

Next week's recipe is a pretty simple one too; bar nuts. But it coincidentally pairs up perfectly with the timing of my boyfriend's first home brewed batch of beer. I'm excited to see how both turn out!
